Charity Hands

Charity Hands wants to make a difference to the people in need in India and Cameroon. Their vision is not only helping them through the day, but also in the future therefore they have started many self-supporting projects, such as giving access to clean drinking water, supplying microcredit's to gypsy families living in the slums of Chennai, etc. They expose this in the pay-off: "Give a man a fish and he will eat for one day; teach him how to fish and he will eat for life".

LOTI was fortunate enough to establish contact with Charity Hands which is based in the Nederlands. Two volunteers have already visited the location in Cameroon last year, supporting LOTI's cause with providing 250 G external harddrive, digital and web camera, memory sticks and a lap top. They also took care of the internet installation as well as other related issues with the maintenance and the internet connection. Charity hands is one of LOTI's most important partners and sponsors and we hope for long and lasting collaboration in the years to come.

United Nations Online Volunteers

UNV's Online Volunteering (OV) service connects development organizations and volunteers over the Internet and supports their effective online collaboration. It gives development organizations access to a broader pool of knowledge and resources to enhance their capacities, while it offers individuals worldwide additional opportunities to volunteer for development and contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals.

The OV service enabled 1,347 non-profit development organizations in 2009 to benefit from the support of almost 9,500 individuals from 182 countries who:

- Provide technical expertise (e.g. advice on waste disposal, contract drafting)

- Support project and resources management (e.g. project planning, volunteers management)

- Contribute to knowledge management (e.g. data collection, database development)

- Facilitate communication and networking (e.g. newsletters production and translation, moderation of online discussion groups)
